The 2022 race at Daytona was a wild kickoff to the Next-Gen era. With an average speed of 142.295 MPH, the race saw 35 lead changes and more than two-thirds of the 40 car field were involved in crashes.

After winning Stages 1 and 2, Martin Truex Jr. dropped back to finish 3rd among Candy Racers, rounding out the Candy Cup podium. He finished 13th overall.
